Tools:

Products can be applied with a paint brush, a push broom, a low nap roller with a long handle or a Commercial Airless Sprayer.  In addition, you will need Ames® Peel & Stick Seam Tape and scissors or a utility knife.  For larger commercial jobs, we recommend an airless sprayer with a 3/8 inch, 150 foot hose. Click Here for Sprayer Specifications

Preparation:

Power wash the surface to remove all dirt and debris and be sure it is completely dry before the coating application. Read all label instructions before beginning. Always run a test patch first in an inconspicuous area to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occurs and the product works to your satisfaction.

Application:

Step 1:
Apply Ames’® Super Primer™ liberally with a pour out and paint on rate of one to two gallons per 200 square feet. Once the Super primer is dry to the touch apply Ames’® PS250 Peel & Stick Seam Tape™ to rips, tears, abrasions joints, over flashing, around vents, around skylights and where two unlike surfaces meet.

Step 2:
Next apply two coats of Ames’® Super Elasto-Barrier™. Pour the thick liquid coating out and spread two gallons of product liberally with a push broom or roller. Work the product until it is smooth and looks consistent in thickness. Move on after a few minutes so the product does not skin over or form a film which can create an unintended texture in the coating’s finished appearance.

Step 3: Finish the application with two coats of Ames’® Maximum-Stretch™ at the rate of two gallons per 100 square feet for a highly reflective energy saving roof system.

For Reflective and Maintenance Coating Applications Only:
For preventative maintenance only on roofs that drain well –  prime first with Ames® Super Primer™ then cover with two coats of Ames’® Maximum-Stretch™.  It’s simple, just pour it out and paint it on. Two gallons per 100 square feet seals, stretches, lasts a long time and reflects up to 98% of the UV heat that hits it. Ames’® Maximum-Stretch™ is quality rubber and acrylic that lasts a long time.

Weather & Drying Guidelines:

Products are best applied between 50° to 90° F (10° to 32° C) on warm dry surfaces. Apply when the streets are dry, the sun is in the sky and no inclement weather is forecast. Starts to dry in 2-8 hours, depending on thickness of application and weather; cures in 24 hours. Low temperatures, high humidity and evening and morning dew will require increased drying/curing time.

Estimated Coverage:

Standard product coverage on smooth surface is 1-2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. More than one coat is recommended. More coats equal longer life.

Clean-up, Storage and Disposal:

Clean tools and small spills with water. Store unused product in its original container, tightly sealed and protected from freezing. Dispose of this product in accordance with local, state, or federal requirements.
