WHAT IS ELASTOMERIC STAIN?
Ames Research Laboratories now has added another fine product to its' arsenal of waterproof coatings. Ames' Elastomeric Stain is a unique, premium semi-clear elastomeric plastic sealant, stain and adhesive for wood. It penetrates deeply into wood to glue and bind together the molecules of the surface it is being applied to. It plasticizes the wood and repels water. Wood goes through a process of deterioration from its new condition through gradual aging. This life can be substantially extended by preserving with good preservatives and by sealing with a premium coating. Rotting and deteriorating surfaces can be restored to a somewhat new condition, and often the surface life can be extended for many more years of usefulness. Ames new Elastomeric Stain inhibits mildew, moss and fungus. It penetrates, seals, and glues the wood together from below the surface. Ames’ Elastomeric Stain lasts longer than most petroleum stains that must be reapplied every year. Our stain, which contains a plastic penetrating agent, has much better preserving capability and stretches with the wood when it expands and contracts. In addition, many of Ames stains repel and bead water.
