A Waterproof Concrete Mini Pool with Blue Max
Step by Step Guide to Creating a Mini Concrete Pool with Blue Max
AMES Blue Max products are known for stopping water in its tracks, but nothing showcases that power quite like our miniature concrete water tank. This small demo has become a crowd favorite at trade shows. The tiny cinderblocks always spark conversations, and the build is a perfect way to show how the Blue Max system works as both a waterproofing solution and an adhesive.
If you want to recreate your own concrete mini pool at home or use this process to understand larger scale waterproofing, here is a complete walkthrough of how the Blue Max system comes together.
Step 1: Start with Blue Max® Caulk Grade
Start by stacking miniature cinderblocks into the shape of your pool or tank. Once your layout is set, apply Blue Max Caulk between every block joint. This step is more than simple placement. The Caulk acts as a waterproof seal and also bonds the blocks together, giving the structure both strength and flexibility. Let the Caulk dry fully before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Build a Reinforced Waterproof Layer with Blue Max Trowel Grade

Next, coat the bottom and interior walls with Blue Max Trowel Grade. This is the same Blue Max formula in a thicker, paste like form that allows you to fill small gaps, bond surfaces, and build up a strong, flexible waterproof layer. Apply it evenly across the entire interior surface and allow it to dry. Once dry, the structure has a reinforced membrane that can withstand expansion, movement, and pressure.
You can use trowel, brush, or putty knife to apply the Trowel Grade.
Step 3: Coat the interior with Blue Max Original Blue
After the Blue Max Trowel Grade has dried, apply a finishing coat of Blue Max Original Blue. This creates a smooth sealed surface inside your mini pool. It delivers powerful waterproofing with 1200 percent elongation. It stretches and moves with the surface so it resists cracking, splitting, and peeling over time. This final layer locks everything together and ensures a watertight seal from top to bottom.
Step 4: Bring Your Mini Pool to Life
Once the coating has fully dried, your mini pool is ready for water. Add rubber ducks (our favorite), floating swans, or other small decor and your pool is complete! It's a fun way to see Blue Max in action and a great hands on example of how our products perform on real world surfaces.
